This Bauhaus desk from the 1940s comes from the Czech Republic and stands on a frame of chrome-plated steel tube, bent in one continuous line. The tabletop and shelf are lacquered in a deep high-gloss black, whilst the drawer pedestal and hanging drawer are finished in a strong purple red. The contrast between glossy lacquer and cool chrome keeps the construction clearly legible. On the left, the tube carries an open intermediate shelf above a pedestal with two lockable drawers; on the right, a third drawer sits directly beneath the top. At 110 cm wide, 62 cm deep and with a working height of 76 cm, the small desk offers enough surface for a laptop and papers without filling a study. In period apartments, or as an office desk in a corner of the living room, this steel tube desk makes the most of its compact proportions. The piece is in excellent condition, with clean lacquered surfaces and evenly gleaming chrome.

At Zeitwerk Home, we prioritise sustainability by applying traditional techniques and using natural materials, oils and resins. We pay particular attention to the environmental friendliness of our work, ensuring that no harmful substances are used. However, the most important aspect of our philosophy is that nothing is more sustainable than an object that lasts a lifetime. Our furniture is carefully restored and processed so that it endures for generations. With today’s booming throwaway mentality, we want nothing to do with it.

Whether modification or Newly Made – we are happy to adapt this piece of furniture entirely to your wishes for an additional fee. We can modify the product shown in terms of colour, dimensions or details, as well as implement a bespoke Newly Made version based on this design. Contact us for your individual requests, preferably directly via the chat at the bottom right.
