This Louis Seize wall mirror from France has an oval gilded wooden frame with handcarved ornaments of flowers, leaves and ribbon work that grow out from the sides of the frame. The gilding sits warm and full on the wood and shows the material depth that distinguishes original pieces of this period from reproductions. The inner edge of the oval is bordered by a bead and star frieze, a fine formal detail that structures the transition between frame and glass. The carving follows the strict formal canon of the late 18th century: symmetrical, ornamental, but without excessive opulence. At 85 cm wide and 79 cm high the mirror has enough presence for a hallway or a living room without dominating a wall. The gold sets a warm accent on light surfaces and pairs well with dark wood furniture as it does with simple modern interiors. Made in France in the 18th century, the piece shows precise carving work and a gilding with genuine material depth.

At Zeitwerk Home, we prioritise sustainability by applying traditional techniques and using natural materials, oils and resins. We pay particular attention to the environmental friendliness of our work, ensuring that no harmful substances are used. However, the most important aspect of our philosophy is that nothing is more sustainable than an object that lasts a lifetime. Our furniture is carefully restored and processed so that it endures for generations. With today’s booming throwaway mentality, we want nothing to do with it.

Whether modification or Newly Made – we are happy to adapt this piece of furniture entirely to your wishes for an additional fee. We can modify the product shown in terms of colour, dimensions or details, as well as implement a bespoke Newly Made version based on this design. Contact us for your individual requests, preferably directly via the chat at the bottom right.
