This small side table from the 1930s carries a round top of black glass in a nickel-plated metal frame. The base is designed as a curved swan neck rising from a bell-shaped foot and holding the top offset to one side. The metal shows the warm, slightly matt sheen of nickel plating as was usual in the 1930s, with fine traces of use that do not disfigure the frame. The black glass top measures 30 cm in diameter, and the height of 50 cm matches the armrest of an armchair. The side table therefore stands exactly where a cup, a book or a glass needs to be put down, without a large piece of furniture getting in the way. In an old-building flat next to a leather armchair the table looks just as fitting as in a pared-back modern living room. The offset base allows the top to be slid over the edge of the armchair, which a straight column table cannot do.

At Zeitwerk Home, we prioritise sustainability by applying traditional techniques and using natural materials, oils and resins. We pay particular attention to the environmental friendliness of our work, ensuring that no harmful substances are used. However, the most important aspect of our philosophy is that nothing is more sustainable than an object that lasts a lifetime. Our furniture is carefully restored and processed so that it endures for generations. With today’s booming throwaway mentality, we want nothing to do with it.

Whether modification or Newly Made – we are happy to adapt this piece of furniture entirely to your wishes for an additional fee. We can modify the product shown in terms of colour, dimensions or details, as well as implement a bespoke Newly Made version based on this design. Contact us for your individual requests, preferably directly via the chat at the bottom right.
