This pair of Bauhaus cantilever armchairs, model EK32, from the 1930s was designed by Hynek Gottwald and produced by Gottwald. The clearly curved steel tube construction is chrome-plated and shows the typical dynamic lines of classical modernism. The cantilevered form gives the characteristic springy seating motion that makes cantilever armchairs so special.
The armrests are made of beech wood, stained and hand-polished with shellac. The warm wood forms an elegant contrast to the cool steel tube. The upholstery has been completely renewed and covered in a high-quality deep red. The strong colour underlines the sculptural presence of the armchairs and gives the Bauhaus design an expressive note.
With dimensions of 56 cm width, 62 cm depth and 82 cm height and a seat height of 40 cm, the armchairs are ideal for living spaces, reading corners or prestigious areas. This pair combines original Bauhaus substance with expert restoration and high seating comfort.
