This Bauhaus etagere from 1935 comes from Czechoslovak production and displays the asymmetric stepped composition that characterises the formal repertoire of classic modernism. The frame is made of chrome-plated steel tube, bent into a horizontal cascade form: four shelves at different heights, cantilevered and balanced without a visible axis of symmetry. The glass panels are original black with a smooth surface and age-appropriate patina.
With a width of 125 cm and an overall height of 71 cm, this Bauhaus etagere is flat and horizontally proportioned. As a chrome-plated steel tube etagere, it works on a sideboard just as well as a freestanding display piece on the floor. The staggered cascade form creates a sculptural presence in the room that suits modern interiors as well as classic Bauhaus settings.
No maker's attribution is available. The black glass panels show age-related signs of use and scratches that belong to the original condition of this piece. The chrome-plated steel tube is well preserved. Original Bauhaus objects with such pronounced cascade geometry are rarely found on the market.
