This Bauhaus console table by Marcel Breuer dates from the 1930s and shows the reduced design language that shaped the work of the Hungarian designer around the Bauhaus. Two panels of white, lacquered wood-based board rest on a chrome-plated steel tube frame, a calm contrast between bright white and cool metal. The construction is slim and lightly drawn, the chrome-plated steel tube steps back behind the pale surfaces and lets the console seem almost floating despite its height. At 70 cm wide and 71 cm tall it occupies a wall, a hallway or the space beside a sofa without pressing. Two flat, uncluttered panels offer room for pictures, vases and a lamp, making the piece as usable as it is pleasant to look at. As an original of the classic modern era from German manufacture the console table fits an Altbau apartment as well as a modern interior. In excellent condition, with white lacquer and smooth chrome, it brings an ordered Bauhaus design into any room.

At Zeitwerk Home, we prioritise sustainability by applying traditional techniques and using natural materials, oils and resins. We pay particular attention to the environmental friendliness of our work, ensuring that no harmful substances are used. However, the most important aspect of our philosophy is that nothing is more sustainable than an object that lasts a lifetime. Our furniture is carefully restored and processed so that it endures for generations. With today’s booming throwaway mentality, we want nothing to do with it.

Whether modification or Newly Made – we are happy to adapt this piece of furniture entirely to your wishes for an additional fee. We can modify the product shown in terms of colour, dimensions or details, as well as implement a bespoke Newly Made version based on this design. Contact us for your individual requests, preferably directly via the chat at the bottom right.
