This set of four RB3 cantilever chairs from the 1950s comes from the Alfons Mauser Werke in Waldeck and goes back to the design by Mart Stam, who presented the first chair without back legs in 1926. The frame is made of chrome-plated steel tube, bent in one continuous run, letting the chair spring on two runners. Seat and backrest are moulded plywood, stained black and polished with shellac, so the surface shines deeply and the wood structure remains visible beneath the black. Finding four identical Bauhaus cantilever chairs as a set is rare, as these chairs were sold individually for decades. At the dining table the springing frame yields with every movement, which makes longer sitting more comfortable than on a rigid four-legged chair. The seat height of 43 cm suits tables between 70 and 76 cm. Chrome and polish are evenly preserved on all four chairs and show signs of use without being damaged.

At Zeitwerk Home, we prioritise sustainability by applying traditional techniques and using natural materials, oils and resins. We pay particular attention to the environmental friendliness of our work, ensuring that no harmful substances are used. However, the most important aspect of our philosophy is that nothing is more sustainable than an object that lasts a lifetime. Our furniture is carefully restored and processed so that it endures for generations. With today’s booming throwaway mentality, we want nothing to do with it.

Whether modification or Newly Made – we are happy to adapt this piece of furniture entirely to your wishes for an additional fee. We can modify the product shown in terms of colour, dimensions or details, as well as implement a bespoke Newly Made version based on this design. Contact us for your individual requests, preferably directly via the chat at the bottom right.
