This Mid Century doctor's desk from the 1950s is built entirely from painted metal and comes from German manufacture for medical practice use. Furniture of this kind was designed for hygiene and durability, which is why the carcass, drawers and top are folded and welded from sheet steel and the paint finish is hard and wipe-clean. This is visible in the softly rounded edges that form no joins, and in the flush recessed handles. At 150 cm wide and 70 cm deep, the desk offers an unusually large work surface on which a screen, papers and writing space sit side by side. The working height of 79 cm is slightly above today's standard, which benefits tall people. In a study, an atelier or a studio, a metal desk like this sets an industrial accent that suits period buildings and modern rooms alike. The condition is excellent and the paint surface is intact.

At Zeitwerk Home, we prioritise sustainability by applying traditional techniques and using natural materials, oils and resins. We pay particular attention to the environmental friendliness of our work, ensuring that no harmful substances are used. However, the most important aspect of our philosophy is that nothing is more sustainable than an object that lasts a lifetime. Our furniture is carefully restored and processed so that it endures for generations. With today’s booming throwaway mentality, we want nothing to do with it.

Whether modification or Newly Made – we are happy to adapt this piece of furniture entirely to your wishes for an additional fee. We can modify the product shown in terms of colour, dimensions or details, as well as implement a bespoke Newly Made version based on this design. Contact us for your individual requests, preferably directly via the chat at the bottom right.
