This Arne Jacobsen armchair from the Series 7 by Fritz Hansen, model 3207, was designed in 1955 and is available here. The seat shell is made of laminated, steam-pressed teak veneer, which Jacobsen shaped into a flowing, one-piece form. Armrests and shell come from the same material and merge without a visible transition.
The four-legged steel frame is slim in proportion and fitted with black plastic glides. At a width of 61 cm the chair seats the body well without additional upholstery, as the shell shape follows the natural curve of the body.
As a Mid-Century armchair, the 3207 suits the dining table just as well as an occasional chair in a study or living room. In a Berlin period apartment it combines with dark post-war wooden tables as readily as with modern surfaces in oak or marble. Finding three chairs of the same model and age as a matching set is rare. Signs of wear consistent with age are present on the armrests.
