ad-509
1950s Mazda Lamp

This Art Deco table lamp by Mazda comes from France and was made in the 1950s. The turned beech wood stem and the round metal base are lacquered in deep, glossy black, whilst the brass rings typical of Mazda add warm accents. On top sits a funnel shaped shade of white opal glass that diffuses the light softly without glare. The conical stem tapers towards the bottom and gives the lamp a slender, upright silhouette. At 75 cm high and 25 cm in diameter, this vintage table lamp suits a sideboard, console or desk, and is switched on conveniently via the pull chain. It fits naturally into the living room of a period apartment as well as alongside modern furniture. As an original Mazda lamp from the 1950s, the piece is in excellent condition, with lacquer and brass showing only minor signs of age.
