The opal glass scatters the light upwards towards the ceiling, so the room is lit indirectly and softly, with no glare source in the field of view. A pull switch with a brass chain operates the lamp directly at the head. At 77 cm high, this 1930s table lamp is large enough to serve as a light source for the whole living space on a sideboard or chest of drawers. Beside an armchair it becomes a reading corner.
