Mart Stam developed the cantilever concept further in 1926: no rear leg, but a continuous bent steel tube whose elasticity provides the springing. Seat and backrest are made of moulded beech plywood, which gives the Bauhaus chair its clear seat geometry. The steel tube frame is chrome plated and in very good condition. Production took place in Czechoslovakia, where several manufacturers made the cantilever chairs for the European market from the early 1930s, in close association with Thonet. With a seat height of 45 cm and an overall height of 82 cm, this 1930s chair suits the dining room or the desk. Placed in a living room or study, it takes on a formal role as a Bauhaus chair without effort.
